Hello! I am Morgan Haros, a sophomore at Bucknell University, and I intend to triple major in History, Political Science, and Classics.
At Bucknell, there are many opportunities to get involved as well as events to do on campus. I work in the C.A.P. Center (Campus Activities and Programming), where I am on the Lectureship Committee and am an Executive Planner in CORE. Through the CAP Center, I get to plan events for campus (such as Bison Sound, Fall Fest, and Cake Wars) and help bring celebrities to campus. I was able to meet Pete Davidson and Swae Lee because of it! I am also part of Bucknell Student Government, where I am on the Organizational Review Board, which approves new clubs on campus; we have more than 200.
One of my favorite clubs is Mock Trial, where I am the Trial Administrator. In Mock Trial, we travel the region and compete against other schools in a simulated trial; we recently spent a weekend in Philadelphia and will be going to Washington, D.C. in the spring!
There are also many ways to get involved in the humanities on campus. I am part of the Humanities Council and the Vice President of SMAC (Samek Museum Art Club). Through SMAC, I was able to shadow each job at our campus’s art museum. There are many research opportunities on campus as well. I have two research positions, both in the Classics Department. As a Presidential Fellow (a scholarship that allows me to do research on campus for all four years), I was able to start my research as soon as I got to campus. For one research position, I get to work with ancient lamps from the Samek’s Turnure Collection. In the other position, I work with my professor to fix images of ancient Greek pottery from her dig in Thebes.
Overall, Bucknell makes it easy to be involved on campus, which not only allows me to explore my interests outside of the classroom but also allows me to make valuable connections with faculty, staff, and other students.
